A rare view of the exterior of the Assembly Rooms on South Mall taken in 1969 shortly before it was demolished. During the 108 years of its existence it had hosted numerous different events. It is most fondly remembered though as a cinema, having shown films regularly from the late 19th century right up until its closure in 1964. Image from the Evening Echo.
