The opening ceremony for An Tostal at City Hall in 1958. An Tostal was a national series of events celebrating Irish culture, sport  and heritage that first began in 1953. Here in Cork it left a lasting legacy in the form of the Cork Film Festival and Cork Choral Festival, both of which had their beginnings as part of An Tostal. Image from the Cork Examiner.
